About Lit Club NYCBooks bring us closer— to ideas, to ourselves, and to one another.
Lit Club is a New York–based literary agency and community that creates spaces for meaningful connection, with books at the center.
Founded by educator Kelly Chervin, Lit Club is shaped by a career spent helping people learn, grow, and connect through ideas. Kelly began her career as an English teacher and went on to open a school in the Bronx before transitioning into education technology and educational consulting.
Across classrooms, schools, and organizations, she saw the same truth emerge: books can open new ways of understanding ourselves and one another. Lit Club grew from that insight—and from a desire to address two defining challenges of our time: the decline of deep reading and the growing crisis of loneliness.
Through thoughtfully designed gatherings, educational programs, and creative partnerships, Lit Club makes literature feel social, beautiful, and alive.
Our Values
We believe books reveal truths about ourselves and the world around us. We approach reading with curiosity, depth, and intention—and create space for many interpretations to coexist.
Books
We believe everyone deserves a warm and inclusive community of readers. Lit Club welcomes people wherever they are in their reading lives and makes thoughtful conversation feel inviting rather than intimidating.
Belonging
We believe reading and book-centered conversation are forms of art. Every Lit Club experience is created with beauty, dignity, and care, from the books we select to the spaces in which we gather.
Beauty
Our CommunityCurious minds. Open conversations. Real connection.
Lit Club brings together readers who want to engage more deeply—with books, with culture, and with one another. Our community includes lifelong readers, occasional readers, writers, artists, educators, and people simply looking for a more meaningful way to connect.
No expertise is required.
Curiosity is enough.
Meet Kelly Chervin
Kelly Chervin is an English educator, literary community builder, educational consultant, and the founder of Lit Club.
Kelly began her career as an English teacher after earning her master’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins School of Education. She later founded a school in the Bronx, deepening her commitment to creating thoughtful, inclusive learning environments where people feel challenged, supported, and connected.
She went on to work in education technology and now advises schools and organizations through her educational consulting practice. Across each chapter of her career from the classroom and school leadership to technology and consulting.
Kelly’s experience as an educator taught her that the most meaningful encounters with books rarely end on the page. They lead to conversation, discovery, and deeper relationships.
Kelly founded Lit Club to bring that spirit beyond the classroom and into everyday life. Drawing on her experience in education, curriculum design, facilitation, and literary analysis, she creates experiences that make reading feel intellectually rich, socially meaningful, and genuinely welcoming.
Her work is rooted in the belief that books can do more than inform or entertain us: they can help us understand one another, ourselves and the world more deeply.
